Figuring Out the First Look

Along with all of the wedding planning details that need attention, many couples have now been focusing on when they would like to see each other for the first time on the big day. The options are to stick with the traditional route + reveal the bride as she is walking down the aisle. Another that is becoming more + more popular is to create a "first look" prior to the ceremony. What are you planning to do?

Many couples are now seeing that having a planned first look alleviates stress throughout the entire wedding day. For those type-A brides, seeing each other beforehand seems to be the most logical decision for many reasons. By completing most of your photos prior to the ceremony you are then allowing more time to relax + casually finish up the rest of your photos afterward, without that feeling of rush. Another reason that brides, in particular, choose to do a first look beforehand is because of those "can't help it" tears! If the bride (or even the groom!) cries during the ceremony, their eyes may be puffy + makeup could be damaged for the pictures, after the ceremony. Creating that first look, to many couples, ends up being the best way to accomplish getting the most, if not all, of the photos out of the way while still looking the best. Plus, it allows for more time to be spent with your guests + to celebrate your marriage!

Now, if you decide that you would like to do the first look prior to the ceremony, make sure you work out the details with your photographer + wedding planner. Since this is going to be the special moment between the two of you, request that you do have this moment alone (besides the photographer snapping shots, of course!). For the setting, choose a spot close by that will capture beautifully in photographs. Most couples choose the ceremony location; if you choose this option, your planner will coordinate the timing for the ceremony setup to be complete by the time you create your first look. Whether you choose the more traditional route or the popular first look prior to the ceremony, make sure that you both agree on the best option for your wedding day. Regardless of your choice, you will still have a magical day!
